By reading below, you’ll discover how to leverage a book to boost your business.
Consider these three things when deciding to market your business:
Build credibility and establish authority in your field
No matter what type of business you have you can use a book to drive traffic to your business. The key is, you have to be strategic and intentional about your book. Have a clear understanding of your reasoning behind writing the book. You may ask yourself: how can I make money from selling my book? But that’s not what we’re going to talk about today. Because the real question is: how can your book make you money?
You shouldn’t look at your book as being “the business” unless you’re an author. Instead, it should be a part of a strategic marketing plan that drives traffic to your business.
The definition of authority is the power to influence others. Your book will establish authority in your field. Use this authority to generate new clients. Writing a book will make you stand out from the crowd. Your book gives you instant credibility. In business, perception is all that matters.
You don’t need to have a Ph.D. in a subject or 20 years of experience before you can write about a book. If you know more than the average person about a particular subject then you can offer value in a book.
Write a book to sell your service
If you have a service based business writing a book that explains how you run your business can create an uninterrupted supply of clients. So, think about it. If someone is looking for a freelancer why wouldn’t they pick the person who wrote the book about it?
How do you sell your service using a book? You write a book that explains the step-by-step process so the reader can understand it and see how it works. Sometimes people just want to know how much you know before they hire you. Explaining that step-by-step process could drive the reader to actually work with you, simply because the process is so overwhelming.
For example, Marcell L. Pickens recently did a Lunch and Learn about 5 Ways to Level Up your DIY Photography for More Sales in Your Business. I’m sure somebody watching would rather hire him based on his expertise versus doing the work themselves.
Another example is Crystal’s step-by-step guide for self-publishing to help aspiring authors get their books on the market. Her book will be marketable because there are some people who have absolutely no desire to figure out book formatting, interior design, image resolution, book size, how to find and hire an illustrator, printing, distribution, etcetera. The fact that she has a book on the topic automatically qualifies her in their minds as the best person to work with.
A lot of people call a book ‘the new business card’ because It instantly gives you credibility. Publishing your book and explaining your process helps you even if they don’t use your service.
Write a book to sell physical products
Write a book and include a recommendation for your products inside. Use your book as a lead magnet. This is an easy way to bring leads to your business without spending a lot of money.
Consider repurposing content you already have. If you have a blog, repurpose that blog into a book. Take those blog posts that you’ve written, combine them, and have someone from Fiverr edit them. It does not have to be a 300-page book.
